#ThankYouWednesday
Communications shouldn’t cease when the giving day ends. Donor appreciation is perhaps the most important part of Giving Tuesday; after all, fundraising success would not be possible without the loyal support of your donors. Saying thank you reinforces how much their investment in your organization matters and is a significant step in capturing lasting support.
Provide a formal Giving Tuesday update on Wednesday to cap off your campaign. Be ready to inform supporters of the campaign results and reinforce the impact it will create for the future of your organization. Ensuring your donors feel extra appreciated will make them more likely to give to your year-end-appeal and in the months and years to come!
Be Creative
When thanking your donors, the possibilities are only limited by your creativity. Plan unique ideas that show your gratitude in a memorable way.
Consider writing a handwritten thank you note instead of an email. Your organization will stand out in a positive light if the message arrives in their mailbox instead of their inbox! You could even give your supporters a shout out on social media or create a thank you video.
Be Prompt
Don’t wait until days later to thank your donors. Your thank you message should be almost immediate, especially for online donors.
Be Personal
Include the donor’s first name (no “Dear Valued Donor” allowed!) and donation amount. Sign the message from an actual team member rather than on behalf of your school.
Be Social
Invite participants to follow your organization on social media so they can stay up to date on the success of your campaign. Ask your participants to share a story about how or why they gave back to the community.
