Countdown to GivingTuesday 2020
December 1 is GivingTuesday 2020!
Created in 2012, GivingTuesday started as a simple idea: a day focused on encouraging people to do good. It was birthed from a desire to unleash the power of people and organization to transform their communities around the world in a global generosity movement. Over the last 8 years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
In light of everything that 2020 has brought us, we need to be reminded that generosity is what brings people of all faiths, races, and political views together around the world. It gives everyone the power to make a positive impact on the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can be a part of. The worldwide day of giving highlights opportunities to give back to the community in safe ways that allow for kindness and social connection while still practicing physical distancing.
This global giving phenomenon has spurred generosity in more than 190 countries around the world. In the US alone, there have been hundreds of local communities that have rallied together for the purpose of giving and generosity. Will your community be next?
Schools and nonprofits can leverage the energy of GivingTuesday to tell their stories, engage long-term advocates and build a movement for their organization, which is a lot more effective than just collecting donors.
